FBI Must Release Review into the Killing of Eric Allport
The corruption and the cover-ups must end.
June 20, 2022 - The FBI has continued to suppress their own review into their killing of Eric Allport in October of 2020. The Federal Bureau of Investigation attempted to conceal the autopsy of Mr. Allport after his death, and it took the Detroit News more than a year to obtain the report.
The FBI has a history of misconduct and corruption and this came at a time when there were riots across the country over excessive force by law enforcement. Anytime a citizen is killed by law enforcement, a justification for the use of force should be provided.
The lack of transparency and the appearance of an active cover-up has left many unanswered questions and the family of Mr. Allport deserve answers. Some background for people unfamiliar with this incident can be found here in my prior report on his death. Here is a basic run down of what the FBI claims happened:
Eric Allport was seemingly executed by FBI agents in the parking lot of a Madison Heights steakhouse. Eric was shot “once in the back and three times in the head,” according to an autopsy report obtained by The Detroit News. The exact circumstances and details of the shooting have been covered in layers of secrecy imposed by the FBI.
FBI investigators have thus far refused to discuss the shooting in detail and have failed to release the internal review into the shooting or provide any transparency whatsoever. This leads the public to wonder what really happened and why the need for such secrecy if everything was above board. This comes on the heels of a jury acquitting 2 men that were accused by the FBI of plotting to kidnap and murder Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and finding a mistrial on the other 2 defendants. Attorneys in that case argued their clients were entrapped by the FBI and evidence that was presented in that trial showed that the FBI ran the plot from start to finish with the use of 12 informants and 2 undercover agents.
The FBI killed Eric Allport in Michigan just days before making the arrests in the Michigan Whitmer caper. The FBI has claimed the cases were not connected and that Mr. Allport was under investigation for a federal weapons charge.
Here are some questions we have about the Eric Allport death:
Why did the FBI decide to confront Eric Allport in broad daylight outside of a steakhouse?
Did something happen that required Allport to be approached in that manor?
Did the FBI give any consideration to the fact that this was a public area with consumers and business owners in proximity?
Did they consider that during the confrontation, a bystander could be harmed?
Why not choose to arrest him at his home?
Did the FBI contact him and ask him to turn himself in, if not, why?
How long had the FBI been surveilling Allport?
Was the Eric Allport case in any way connected to the Whitmer Kidnapping plot hoax?
Were any of the same FBI agents who worked the Whitmer Caper involved in the Allport case?
The FBI has claimed that an agent was shot during the shoot out, but they do not state by whom. Was the agent shot by Allport or was this a incident of friendly fire?
If the agent was shot by friendly fire and not Allport, is that why the FBI has so far refused to release their internal review into the shooting?
Are there any recordings of the shooting that can be seen or provided? Any surveillance footage from the camera’s of one of the businesses?
Do any witnesses corroborate or contradict the FBI’s story about the shooting?
What is the justification for withholding the autopsy and the internal review?
Were the agents in FBI uniform or were they wearing civilian attire?
If the agents claim that Allport was facing them on his way to his vehicle when the shoot out occurred, how did Allport get shot in the back?
Why was Allport shot so many times? Was that necessary?
We demand answers from the FBI and we demand the release of the internal review into the killing of Eric Allport on behalf of his family and the American people.
