Democrat Megadonor & Activist Ed Buck Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison for Fatally Drugging Two Men
Ed Buck was truly a monster...
April 15, 2022 — A wealthy Democrat megadonor and activist for “progressive” causes, Ed Buck has been sentenced to 30 years in prison on charges that he supplied and injected gay black men with methamphetamine in exchange for sex, leading to multiple drug overdoses and two fatalities.
What led up to Buck’s arrest:
In September of 2019, KTLA News reported on Buck’s initial arrest:
Ed Buck, a prominent Democratic donor and political activist, was arrested Tuesday and charged with operating a drug house and providing methamphetamine to a 37-year-old man who suffered an overdose at Buck’s West Hollywood apartment last week, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said.
Buck is charged with three counts of battery causing serious injury, administering methamphetamine and maintaining a drug house, officials said in a news release.
Prosecutors said Buck injected the victim with methamphetamine at his apartment in the 1200 block of Laurel Avenue in West Hollywood on Sept. 11. The victim suffered an overdose, but survived.
Buck is known as an animal-rights and LGBTQ activist who has donated to Democratic politicians and once ran for West Hollywood City Council. But past incidents strikingly similar to Wednesday’s overdose have put Buck at the center of investigations.
This most recent incident marks the third known time a man suffered a methamphetamine overdose at Buck’s West Hollywood apartment. The previous two victims did not survive.
The first man, 26-year-old Gemmel Moore, died on July 27, 2017. Prosecutors cited insufficient evidence in declining to press charges against Buck in connection with Moore’s death, which was ruled an accidental methamphetamine overdose.
A second man, 55-year-old Timothy Dean, died of methamphetamine and alcohol toxicity on Jan. 7. Dean’s autopsy report said he died at least 15 minutes before anyone called 911. That death was also ruled accidental.
Court documents filed on Tuesday portray Buck as a ‘violent, dangerous sexual predator,’ who uses the bait of drugs, money, and shelter to lure men struggling with addiction and homelessness into his home, where he ‘manipulates them into participating in his sexual fetishes.’
The documents say Buck brought the latest victim to his home around Sept. 4 and injected the man with a dangerously large dose of methamphetamine. The victim left the apartment to get medical help, concerned he was having an overdose.
The victim returned to Buck’s apartment on Sept. 11. Buck again personally injected the man with two large doses of methamphetamine, causing the man to suffer an overdose, court documents say.
Prosecutors say Buck refused to help the victim, and thwarted the man’s attempts to get help, until the man fled the apartment and called 911 from a nearby gas station. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
A Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office news release called Buck’s apartment a ‘drug den.’
A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s investigation uncovered hundreds of photographs taken in Buck’s apartment of men in compromising positions, court records say.
‘The full scope of his consistent malicious behavior is unknown,’ prosecutors said in a bail motion. ‘It is only a matter of time before another one of these vulnerable young men dies of an overdose.’
Prosecutors are recommending Buck’s bail be set at $4 million. He is due in court Wednesday. – KTLA News
It is a wonder that it took so long for Mr. Buck to be arrested for his crimes of sexual predation.
After a lengthy trial, Buck was found guilty in July on all nine counts by a federal jury. It had been a long time coming. Buck used his wealth and political connections, as well as his image as a virtuous progressive and social justice activist to hide the true sinister nature of his criminal behavior.
Buck would target typically young, gay, vulnerable black men to target and exploit for his own sexual perversions. He would go after homeless men who had none of the power, wealth and prestige that Buck had.
Buck would lure his victims back to his fancy home, where he would supply them with drugs, inject them personally and then perform sex acts on them. He did this at times with or without their consent, and sometimes when they were unconscious. His behavior was monstrous.
From the Guardian:
Gemmel Moore, 26, fatally overdosed at Buck’s West Hollywood apartment in July 2017. A second man, Timothy Dean, 55, died nearly two years later in 2019 from a fatal overdose of methamphetamine at Buck’s home. It wasn’t until a third man overdosed twice at the apartment that Buck was arrested and charged. All three men were Black.
Relatives and activists had pushed for Buck’s arrest since Moore died. They have said Buck escaped criminal charges for years because of his wealth, political ties and race.
Buck, who was nicknamed ‘Doctor Kevorkian’, had at least 10 victims and would sometimes drug them while they were unconscious, according to court filings. One victim said he was ‘unable to move’ after Buck injected him with a tranquilizer. He added that later when Buck wanted him to leave his home, Buck ‘became frustrated and obtained a power saw from a closet, turned it on, and approached [the] victim with it’.
Prosecutors urged the judge to sentence Buck to life in prison, saying that he used ‘human beings as playthings, destroying their lives merely to appease his own sexual gratification’. Buck’s attorneys sought a 10-year sentence, rather than ‘relegating him to death in prison’. They asked the judge to consider Buck’s drug addiction, which they said he developed because of a medical condition, and the sexual abuse he suffered at the hands of his father and several priests.
LaTisha Nixon, Moore’s mother, said in a letter to the court that she hoped Buck would receive the maximum sentence. Nixon, a certified nursing assistant, said she could not comfort her son the way she has for countless dying people.
‘All I can think about is how my son died naked on a mattress with no love around him,’ Nixon said. ‘No one to hold his hand or tell him good things.’
Buck asked for leniency before he was sentenced, telling the court: ‘I ask that the court take a look at my life in total,’ he said, according to the Los Angeles Times, rather than ‘the horrible caricature the government painted me as: a meth-fueled axe killer’.
Buck, a wealthy white man who was active in gay causes and animal rights issues has given more than $500,000, mostly to Democratic politicians and causes since 2000.
Black LGBTQ+ activists in California had been advocating for years for Buck to be brought to justice and accused police of ignoring their concerns and allowing Buck to continue hurting people. Buck continued to prey on gay men after Moore’s death, even complaining about the investigation to Dean, who would later die in his home.
‘Buck’s lack of remorse is aptly captured in one image: as he was hiding out in a hotel, evading arrest for Gemmel Moore’s death, he was injecting Dane Brown, another young Black man, with back-to-back slams of methamphetamine,’ Norell said.
Brown, who was homeless, moved into Buck’s apartment, where Buck frequently injected him with meth, often several times a day. He was hospitalized in September 2019 after Buck shot him up three times with back-to-back doses, putting five times the meth in his system that Moore and Dean had when they died, prosecutors said.
Brown returned to Buck’s home weeks later where Buck again injected him with an overdose of methamphetamine, and refused to help him, he said.
‘Brown sat on the couch, resigned to the same fate as Moore and Dean, when he heard his deceased mother cry out to him, ‘Get up, Dane,’’ Norell said.
He escaped Buck’s home and made it to a nearby gas station, where he called for help and was taken to a hospital. His harrowing account of being revived twice finally led to Buck’s arrest. – The Guardian
The behavior of Buck almost sounds like something from a Hollywood movie, where American Psycho style, he is running around with a chainsaw naked like Patrick Bateman.
Buck has been photographed with prominent members of the Democrat establishment, including Hillary Clinton, Adam Schiff, and Ted Lieu.
Hopefully the families of Buck’s victims receive some relief knowing that Buck will be in prison for a long time, despite it being too little too late.
So after reading this, I checked on another substack: AND, by Sam Faddis and team. He discusses the failed but ongoing progressive experiment of putting biological males into prisons for women [1]. Yes, it has led to a rise of rapes and sexual assaults.
One extract here is worth citing, because sadly we do have a connection:
**
For their part, authorities in California’s women’s prisons responded to the announcement of the change by stocking prison medical facilities with condoms and Plan B emergency contraceptives. They also began to issue guidance to female prisoners on how to get an abortion if they became pregnant in prison.
One inmate in a California prison responded to the new abortion counseling by noting, it was like the prison had “given the okay for them to rape us, cause you have a plan to take care of the aftermath.”

You might think that homeless gay black men and that women who have been arrested and incarcerated are among our most vulnerable populations. (To which we could add small children).
You might think as well that a civilized society has some baseline responsibility to protect its most vulnerable populations from sexual predators, and in this and other cases, violently dangerous sexual predators. Including serial- and spree-killers.
But if you are a wealthy, well-connected progressive, you seem to think differently. Such morals -- such ethical and legal limits are mere expressions of benighted discrimination. Such thinking and such practices are prejudicial. Limits on human possibility -- or, at least our possibilities. The homeless, the imprisoned, the grade school children: these are the raw materials upon which our fantasies -- our utopian ideals of a better world -- are transformed into reality.
Some rapes, some deaths, some suicides, some premature but effectively irreversible gender reassignment surgeries: small prices for others to pay for our utopian to come.
