A Political Prisoner's Thoughts on the Election
Thoughts on the 2024 Election by Joseph Morrison from Jackson County Jail
First I would like to thank Almighty God for the mercy He has bestowed upon the American people. I pray that we prove ourselves worthy of it.
I will say that in the Jackson County jail, at least in my 14-man tank, the night was filled with hopeful optimism and celebration. Be it this has been my 3rd election cycle in this very tank and jail, I have seen a trend. For the most part, most jail inmates agree that Republican leadership is better for the economy. That has been the number one issue that I have seen. The cost of living, more take-home pay, and fewer taxes are the things that matter most. Unlike the last 2 election cycles, this was not disappointing. We celebrated when Fox News called the election for President Trump. We watched his victory speech without side conversation (very rare in jail). The outlook of most the inmates for the country after this election is much more optimistic than it was before the election.
I am personally happy that President Trump won along with the Republicans taking the House and Senate. But I will say that my faith is not in a man or a party. My faith is solely in the Lord Jesus Christ. But I am hopefully optimistic about the future of our beloved nation.
I pray that the economy improves, and that the cost of living goes to something bearable. I pray that President Trump is able to help bring peaceful solutions to the War in Ukraine, the War in Gaza and Lebanon. I pray that President Trump through his strong leadership is able to deescalate many of the conflicts in our world today. What the world needs is peace, what America needs is no new wars. I pray that we can unite as a country and as a people and work for the good of our children.
One issue that is nearest and dearest to my heart and deeply personal, is the political weaponization of the DOJ and other agencies, along with prosecution for political favor and career advancement. I believe now that President Trump himself has been criminally prosecuted due to political reasons that he will address this issue. My prayer is for my compatriots that have been wrongfully convicted to be exonerated. I pray that my own exoneration will come soon as well.
I pray that we start to look more like the United States of American and less like the United Soviet States of America. I pray we return to love of neighbor. I pray we start to heal. We have a long road ahead of us, but we are a resilient people. I know that if we as a nation, as a people turn to Almighty God and repent for our many, many sins that Almighty God will bless us and have mercy upon us. If so, we may once again be able to bless the world. I personally believe it all depends on if we repent and turn to the Lord Jesus Christ. If we do not turn our reverence for President Trump into idolatry, if we put our faith in God, above President Trump or the Republican party. We must love one another! We must be kind and compassionate.
Yes it is a time to celebrate. But there is much work to be done as a nation, as a people and as individuals. When we love God and love one another we Americans can do anything. But we must love one another, regardless of race, gender, color, religion, creed and any other things that may divide us. Love and repentance will Make America Great Again, through the grace of Almighty God.
"My faith is not in a man or a party. My faith is solely in the Lord Jesus Christ."
Amen. Great post and POV.
Thank you for the update, we continue with him in prayer.
